Lewis Phillips is in the third generation of the Lewis Family. He was born April 5, 1972. His parents are Earl and Janis (Lewis) Phillips.

Lewis began to play banjo at a very young age. When he was five, he played 'Wildwood Flower' on a Lester Flatt LP recorded at Pilot Mountain, NC. The next year, he performed on a CBS-TV network special called "Carol & Dolly In Nashville". (If you'd like to see this, it's included on the "We Are Family" live DVD.)

Through the years he has been featured singing and playing on the Lewis Family projects. Today he plays banjo and guitar with the Lewis Family, and he is featured as a vocalist.

In 1999 "He Still Looks Over Me", a song featuring Lewis, won a Dove Award for Bluegrass Recorded Song of the Year.

Lewis married Laney Scott on December 16, 2000. Laney received her Masters Degree in May 2003, and she teaches at Lincoln County Elementary School in Lincolnton, GA.

Lewis and Laney have built a new home and they moved in October 2005.

Lewis and Laney's baby girl, Salena "Brooke" was born Thursday, July 26, 2007 at 10:45 PM. She weighed 6 lbs. 1 oz. and was 21 inches long.
