The Lewis Family - A Permanent Tribute

Dear Sponsors and Patrons of The Lewis Family Tribute,

I would like to inform you of our progress on the tribute to The Lewis Family that is to be built as a result of your contributions and The Lewis Family - A Special Celebration held in October 2000.

We have had delays as we have worked with officials in Lincolnton to find the best location to place the tribute.  It seems that we could not find a location that would be suitable and I apologized to you for this delay.  Our funds have been in an interest bearing account during this time.

Now, I think our long wait has paid off.  Due to the generosity of The Lincoln County Historical Society we have a fitting tribute to The Lewis Family well underway.  This tribute is The Lewis Family Pavilion; a 60 ft x 60 ft covered rustic structure with a stage, bench seating and open on three sides.  We will be working closely with the Historical Society to add finishing dress up touches to the pavilion, work on signage and plaques with sponsors and patrons names and a plaque of The Lewis Family history.

In Honor of Pop and Mom Lewis

The Lincoln County Historical Park is located in Lincolnton just across from the Post Office.  There are already many historical structures at this location and this fits so well with our desire to have a lasting tribute to The Lewis Family, which is certainly part of the history of Lincoln County.  This location also provides us with the possibility of additions later.   One of these ideas you may be interested in is, at some time; we could add a Lewis Family Museum at the pavilion.  This site has many possibilities and I am very thankful to the Historical Society for making this possible.

In Honor of The Lewis Family's 50th year as "America's First Family of Bluegrass Gospel Music"

The dedication of The Lewis Family Pavilion was at 10:00 AM on the Saturday of The Lewis Family Festival.  (May 3, 2003).

We are still seeking patrons and sponsors of The Lewis Family Tribute.  Plaques containing the name of the patrons and sponsors will be placed in the pavilion.  Anyone wishing to be a patron may send a contribution of $75.00.  Sponsorship is $500.00 or $1,000.00.  All money received will go to continue to make this tribute to The Lewis Family the best possible.
